The Significance of TamilNadu Budget 2012-2013

The Tamilnadu Budget for the year 2012-2013 presented on 26 March today by State Finance Minister O Panneerselvam.  

After AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister in April 2011, the first session of the newly-formed government took place on 23 May. The next session was convened on 3 June with Governor`s address that ended on 10 June.

Tamilnadu Budget 2012-2013 Highlights 

- 3000 new buses to be bought with Rs. 548 Cr 
- Patta for 1 lakh houses 
- Rs 3804 cr for Agriculture
 - Rs. 20.75 crore to recover land grab 
- Rs. 50 crore for integrating rivers 
- Laptop for VAO
- Food Production target Rs 1.20 crore metric ton
- No VAT for Fertilizers 
- 10 lakh farmers to be brought under insurance scheme
- Rs. 4000 crore loan for crops through co-operative society
- E-chalan system in Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem. Also to be implemented in Nellai, Tiruchi
- TN GDP Growth 9.2% 
- Goverment Employees Insurance Raised to Rs 4 Lakh 
- Rs. 200 Cr for New Urban Poor Scheme
- Rs 50,000 cr for 20,000 Solar Street Lights 
- 3000 new buses to be bought with Rs. 548 Cr
- Rs. 1.93 crore to create employment opportunities in private sector 
- Annadanam Scheme in 50 more Temples
- New State Disaster Management Team 
- 1000 Cr for Thane Puyal affected Region 
- 100 cr to Equitable Development of State
