It is said they have found documents on the financial transactions between Kalaignar TV and the Mumbai-based company Cineyug Films – connected to Swan Telecom.
The officials also questioned the managing director of the channel, Sharad Kumar, who had issued statements denying any connection to the spectrum scam and later invited the central agencies to verify the documents themselves. This former Sun TV hand is also said to hold a sizable chunk of shares in Kalaignar TV.
Two days after they were 'invited' to verify documents over charges of receiving kickbacks from 2G spectrum allocation beneficiary, a team of officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation paid a midnight visit to the office of DMK channel Kalaignar TV, owned by the family members of party president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
A team headed by an Additional Superintendent of Police landed at the TV channel office few minutes after midnight, and continued sifting through the documents till 5 am on Friday.
