Kanimozhi & Kalaignar TV's MD Sharad Kumar arrested n sent to Tihar jail

New Delhi, May 20: It is jail, not bail for DMK MP Kanimozhi. The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi has been arrested in the 2G spectrum scam on Friday, May 20.

 

Kanimozhi is one of the main accused in the biggest telecom scam in the country. The accused DMK MP has been chargesheeted by the CBI for allegedly accepting Rs 200 crore bribe for Kalaignar TV - where she owns a share of 20 percent.

Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV's MD Sharad Kumar will have been taken into custody on Friday. The duo soon will be sent to Tihar jail.

Kanimozhi, inside the special CBI court in New Delhi, said, "I was anticipating this (arrest) order, will take the battle forward legally." It seems that the Rajya Sabha MP felt the heat earlier as just a day before the verdict, Kanimozhi complained of ill-health in a Delhi Court which allowed her to temporarily skip the proceedings in the 2G spectrum case.

Well-known criminal lawyer, Ram Jethmalani, who defended Kanimozhi in the court, failed to pursue the court by stating, "She is a mother and should not be sent to jail."

Both Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar moved the CBI court with bail plea. The court, rejecting the bail plea, said, ordered the most disastrous judgment which might mar the DMK party which has already been isolate after the massive defeat at AIADMK chief

Sources informed that Kanimozhi will be put up at the women’s section at Tihar Jail. She will be put up in a separate 15*10 feet cell, number 6 in the prison, women in the cell, and the number of Ward 8. and Sharad will be lodged in jail number 4
