Case againt MK Stalin and dares police to arrest him


Dec 2, 2011, 01.53PM ISTCHENNAI: Faced with allegations of grabbing land, DMK leader and former deputy chief minister M K Stalin has dared the police to arrest him and insisted that a case be filed against chief minister J Jayalalithaa for allegedly encroaching upon land in Kodanad.

The J Jayalalithaa government's anti-land grab campaign reached the foyer of the M Karunanidhi family on Thursday when the Chennai police on Thursday registering a case against former deputy chief minister M K Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi Stalin. While the grapevine had it that a police force may be waiting for Stalin when he flies down from Tiruchi late in the evening, Stalin chose to go on the offensive.
On Friday morning, he met the additional director general of police (administration) T K Rajendran and submitted two petitions. In one, he said the police have foisted cases against him, his son and four others. In the other, he alleged that chief minister Jayalalithaa had encroached land in Kodanadu, which is her vacation home. He asked the police to register a case against Jayalalithaa.

The complainant was forced to file a false case against us. I explained this to the ADGP. If the FIR is registered, the persons named in it should be arrested. But I have not been arrested. I came here to ask the ADGP to arrest me." Stalin asked if the police would initiate legal action against Jayalalithaa.

"Jayalalithaa has acquired vast land from poor people in Kodanadu. No case of land grabbing has been registered (against her). In Siruthavur, Jayalalithaa grabbed land from poor dalits. A complaint has been given, but no case was registered," Stalin said. In the other petition, Stalin said an FIR has been filed against him to settle political scores. "My son Udayanidhi entered into a rental agreement with the present owner of the property through his film company. The complaint is given only to tarnish my image and reputation. The police machinery is being misused and abused," the complaint said. "I have asked the police to register a case against the complainant, N Seshadri Kumar, for filing a false complaint against me and my son," Stalin said.
